Role Notes is a platform for documenting observations and experiences. We surface patterns through accumulation, not declaration.

✓ Sharing your personal experience with a job posting or company

✓ Documenting observations about compensation, role scope, or process

✓ Noting patterns you observe across multiple postings

✓ Expressing opinions about job descriptions or hiring practices

✓ Asking questions or seeking clarification from the community

What's Not Allowed

To maintain community trust, certain content is not permitted:

✗ Personal information: Don't share names, contact info, or identifying details about private individuals

✗ Harassment or hate speech: No attacks on individuals or groups based on protected characteristics

✗ Unverifiable accusations of illegal activity: Don't claim crimes or illegal acts without evidence

✗ Spam or promotional content: No repetitive, promotional, or off-topic content

✗ Intentional misinformation: Don't deliberately post false information as fact

How We Approach Moderation

We believe in community self-governance with clear guardrails:

We do not remove:

Negative opinions or critical observations
Unflattering but honest experiences
Legitimate concerns about role expectations
Observations about compensation or benefits

We may remove:

Content that violates the guidelines above
Clear violations after review
Repeated violations from the same user

Reporting Content

If you see content that violates these guidelines, you can report it using the flag icon on any annotation. Reports are reviewed by our team and help us maintain community standards.

We review all reports and take appropriate action. We don't remove content simply because someone disagrees with it—only when it violates these guidelines.

Attribution & Transparency

All annotations are attributed to the user who created them, with timestamps showing when observations were made. This transparency helps readers understand the context and age of any observation. Patterns emerge through accumulation over time—not through any single declaration.

These guidelines may be updated as our community grows. We're committed to maintaining a space that's useful for job seekers while being fair to employers who communicate in good faith.
